Wilec’s magnet wire facility, producing product under the Transwire brand, was founded in 1975 and is today the leading manufacturer of enamelled magnet wire in sub-Saharan Africa. The division produces round and rectangular conductor from 0.2mm to 5mm diameter, certified by the SABS to conform to the IEC 60317 standard. Recent investment into high-speed enamelling machines ensures efficient production of the best quality product.
Wilec has embarked on an intensive modernisation and recapitalisation program. The program has been rolled out in both the Olifantsfontein and City Deep manufacturing facilities. The state of the art machines that have been installed have already produced improved quality, control and efficiencies.
In addition to this, product diversification and market substitution have also been factored into the procurement and planning of the equipment purchased.
Extensive training has been rolled out to our manufacturing teams such that both man and machine are equipped to deliver products that exceed specification and customer demands.
